Since 1972 ISR has been at the center of what makes Whidbey Island a place where people can age with dignity, live with independence and know that help is available when they need it. Every year they serve thousands of Island County residents — older adults, people living with disabilities and the family members and caregivers who support them. They are the first call when someone doesn't know where to turn, and the steady hand that helps people navigate one of the most challenging chapters of life.
Right now ISR has two important roles to fill. Both are meaningful. Both are grounded in service to this community. And both place real value on life experience — not just formal education.
Community Resource Specialist $27–$30/hr | Langley & Oak Harbor offices | Full-time
This is a frontline role — the person who answers the call, assesses the need and helps connect Island residents with the resources and support that allow them to stay in their homes and maintain their independence. You'll conduct client interviews, make referrals, develop care roadmaps and build relationships with community partners across the Island.
ISR is clear about what they're looking for: a bachelor's degree in social work or human services is one path in — but two years of real-world experience in human services is equally valued. If you've worked with older adults, people with disabilities or in community health in any capacity, ISR wants to hear from you. What matters most is your ability to show up with patience, compassion and genuine commitment to the people in your care.
Executive Director $130,000–$160,000 | Langley | Full-time
This is a leadership role that carries real weight — and real opportunity. The Executive Director guides ISR's vision, leads a staff of 57, oversees a $3.7 million budget and serves as the organization's primary advocate in the community and beyond. You'll work closely with the Board of Directors, lead fundraising and grant strategy and ensure ISR continues to grow and serve Island County for generations to come.
ISR's preferred candidate has a master's degree and 10 years of progressive nonprofit leadership — but they're equally open to someone whose experience combines business leadership with meaningful community service work. Residence on Whidbey Island is preferred and relocation assistance is available for the right person.
