✅ Before You Apply

High school diploma or GED required — no prior trade experience necessary
Must be 18 years or older
Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights up to 60 feet and enter confined spaces with respirator
Basic math skills and knowledge of hand and power tools required
Must pass drug screen and background check
Must be a U.S. Person
Willing to attend 144-216 hours of classroom training per year outside regular work hours
No felony convictions for theft, deception, drug crimes or violent crimes

About the Role Nichols Brothers Boat Builders has been building vessels on Whidbey Island since 1964 and is looking for motivated individuals to join their apprenticeship program — no trade experience required, just a high school diploma and a strong work ethic.

You'll choose from trades including Marine Pipefitters, Marine Painters, Machinery Assemblers, Production Welders, Ship Fitter/Fabricators and Electricians. You'll learn hands-on under experienced journeymen while completing structured classroom instruction that meets Washington State Department of Labor and Industries requirements.
